For many, it shaped their entire futures. Take Hannah Mather Crocker, a member of an important family who was heavily influenced and inspired by revolutionary ideas.

As the daughter of one of Boston’s foremost ministers, Hannah received an excellent education. As a woman, she was not given much opportunity to speak her mind, but was still determined to be heard.

At the beginning of the decade, she was still quite young and there was no way for her to know what the following years would bring.
